We all know that feeling. We just had dinner not too long ago, and that sweet treat is calling our name. Here are some tips to help you kick those cravings and avoid overeating in the evenings!
1.Eat enough throughout the day
It is not a coincidence that your body is calling for something at the end of the day. This might be a sign that you’re hungry and have not had enough to eat during the day. Make sure to eat regularly, to keep your body energized and satiated.
2.Cinnamon!
1 teaspoon of cinnamon each day can help regulate blood sugar levels. When blood sugar is out of whack, cravings kick in, especially for those sweet foods. When looking for cinnamon to help balance blood sugar, make sure to purchase CEYLON cinnamon. This is probably different from the Cassia cinnamon you’re currently using.
3.Avoid fruit in the late afternoon and evening.
This trick is so important if you have a sweet tooth at night! Don’t get me wrong, fruit is fabulous and nutrient packed, however, can spike your blood sugar levels. I find those that eat their sugar earlier in the day, better manage their cravings at night.
4.Keep your meals interesting, and balanced.
This one is huge! When we eat our meals, not only are we looking for a mix of fats, carbs, and proteins, but we are also looking for satisfaction! If your meals aren’t interesting, and tasty, you will feel as though you are missing something after dinner. Make sure your meals are filled with nutrients to fill and energize you, but also taste delicious!
5.Check in with your emotions.
Sugar cravings can also be caused from high emotions. Sometimes when we are sad, frustrated, angry, or lonely, sweet treats give us a temporary “high” and fill us with joy and comfort. Sometimes finding an activity to help manage these emotions like calling a friend, taking a bath, or making a warm cup of tea can help you feel better.
